Role overview
CEG Digital wishes to engage the services of an Online Tutor for their MA in Education course run in partnership with the University of Hull. This is a post for a self-employed contractor.
Online Tutors play a central role in the day-to-day success and vibrancy of the university’s online courses and are a consistent presence in the modules to which they are assigned. We are looking for an experienced tutor in research skills to support our students during the initial 1-12 weeks of their master’s dissertation module. The tutor will deliver online webinars around topics such as research methods and submitting an ethics application as well as address academic queries from students prior to students submitting their project proposal and being allocated a supervisor.
This is a flexible, part-time role and it is estimated that during weeks 1-6 each student group may need approximately 20 hours of online tutoring, with a further 12 hours spread across weeks 7-12 although flexibility is required. Note that there will be key dates and contact points you will be required to adhere to which are driven by the course calendar. Full details will be provided prior to the start of the module.
The Course
Our MA Education is designed to inspire, empower, and delight educators as they develop their knowledge and understanding to meet the challenges of our time. Inquiry based and practice focused, the program is highly individualised and underpinned with robust theoretical perspectives, evidence of best practice and applications of the latest innovations in education. The programme is aimed at supporting a wide range of educators as they develop a disposition of inquiry and learn to become responsive to current societal demands, yet with their eyes on the horizon. Specifically, the program is built around students’ work so that learning is directly informed by and impacts upon their occupation. More information on the course can be found on the University of Hull website.
The Module
The Education Change Maker is the final module taken by students. The module allows students to develop a challenge-based project or literature-based challenge, utilising their studies and applying this to a current professional challenge. In the first few weeks of the module, the students will develop a plan for their work, a draft of their ethics application and a Gantt chart. They will also draft and submit an academic poster.
